3/04 to 3/07.  International Paper's Baseball Classic Tournament.  Held at Mike Johnson Park in Georgetown, SC.  Details:  email to ipclassic@yahoo.com

03/06.  10th Annual Tour of Homes.  A fund-raising event supporting The Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum.  Visit nine dazzling homes designed from traditional to ultramodern (includes one with an environmentally conscious "green" design).  Tickets $35 in advance at the museum, $40 the day of the tour.  Museum: 3100 S. 03/11-13.  National Shag Dancing Championship Finals in North Myrtle Beach.  Held at Spanish Galleon, 100 N. Ocean Blvd, North Myrtle Beach, SC.  For details, www.shagnationals.com

03/13.  22nd Annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade.  9 AM to 4 PM.  For everyone, not just the Irish, this fun event runs down Main Street in North Myrtle Beach.  Parade at 11 AM.  Street festival following that, and much more.  A family event.  For details, www.StPatNMB.com or 843-280-5570 .

03/13.  5th Annual Flip-Flop Ball.  A fund-raiser held from 7 -11 PM at the Pine Lakes Country Club.  Proceeds will benefit the Children's Museum of South Carolina.  Details at 843.946.9469 or 843.946.9469. 

03/13-21.  Can-Am Festival.  Presented by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. More information at www.CanAmDays.com, 843.626.7444.  Held at various sites around Myrtle Beach, this annual event is sure to chase away any remaining chill of winter. 

  • CAN-AM MILITARY CONCERT FEATURING THE 282nd ARMY BAND, March 15.  Doors open at 6PM, concert begins at 7PM.
  • CAN-AM DAYS KICKOFF CELEBRATION and EXPO, March 16 at 10 AM to 1 PM.  Free!
  • CAN-AM MILITARY CONCERT FEATURING THE 208th ARMY RESERVE BAND, venue to be determined.  March 19 – doors open at 6PM, concert begins at 7PM.
  • CAN-AM MILITARY CONCERT FEATURING THE UNITED STATES NAVY BAND,  March 20 – doors open at 6PM, concert begins at 7PM. 

03/16.  VeggieTales Family Night Out at Chick-Fil-A Restaurant in Gator Hole Plaza, North Myrtle Beach.  Held from 5 PM to 7 PM, this children's activity is appropriate for kids ages 3 to 10.  It includes a VeggieTales Activity Sheet and stickers, a drawing to win 1 of 3 VeggieTales new movies, and an appearance by the Chick-fil-A Cow!  Details at 843.280.7882.

03/20.  The Third Annual Taste of the Coast at Barefoot Landing.  From 11 AM to 4 PM, local restaurants offer samples (food tickets $1) in a carnival-style event with games, activities, and much more.  A fundraiser for Risen Christ Lutheran School with fun, food, and beverages, live entertainment, a kids' zone, and much more.  Details: http://www.TOCNMB.com or (843) 272-8349, ext 102. 

03/20-21.  8th Annual Brunswick County, NC, Home and Garden Show.  Features everything from booths, vendors, food, classes, free give-aways.  West Brunswick High School near Shallotte, NC.  More details at www.BrunswickCountyChamber.org.

3.27-28.  National Shag Dance Championship Team Performance at the ICE Awards, Palace Theatre, Myrtle Beach, SC. 

 

April 2010

4/1 to 10/31.  Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo.  Held all along the Grand Strand coastline, this multi-event includes over $7,000 in prizes and other enjoyable features such as "take a kid fishing" and "fish of the month.".  Details at 800-356-3016 and www.VisitMyrtleBeach.com.

4/3.  Breakfast with the Easter Bunny at The Children's Museum. Saturday from 9 to 10 AM at The Children's Museum of South Carolina.  One free photo and continental breakfast followed up with an Easter egg hunt and special holiday crafts!  Call for price and reservations with reservations required.  Details at 843.946.9469 or CMSCprograms@sc.rr.com.

4/10.  Spring Fling Volleyball Tournament held from 8:30 AM to 5 PM.  12-team limit in "scramble" format on two courts, co-ed.  Fee $36.  Registration at the Aquatic and Fitness Center (deadline April 8th).  Details at 843.281.3738 or email to harpstr@atmc.net.  Location:  1100 2nd Ave S, North Myrtle Beach. 

4/16-25.  SOS Spring Safari Parade in North Myrtle Beach.  From the 15th to the 25th, dancing in North Myrtle Beach!  The parade is held on Main Street on the last Saturday of the event.  Shag dancers' spring break.  For details, www.shagdance.com.

4/17.  Zombie Walk for the Animals.  1 PM to 2 AM.  This charity event benefits the Grand Strand Humane Society with coffee and treats, plus a chance to make friends with animal lovers and the local community.  . 4/22.  Earth Day ROCKS! From 5 to 7 PM in McLean Park, bring a lawn chair and celebrate Earth Day with live music and "green" vendors.  Children will enjoy the special kids' area with hands-on things to do and learn.  Bring any brand of pre-owned athletic shoes to this Earth Day celebration (no metal, dressy, or wet/damp shoes) for recycling through Nike's "Let Me Play" program (www.letmeplay.com/reuseashoe).  Park located at 93 Oak Dr., North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.  Details at www.nmb.us.

4/24.  Art in the Park.  Market Common's Valor Park will feature the works of over 60 artists from as far as Tennessee.  Products include painting, woodworking, glass, metal, stone, cloth, and many other media.  For details, 843.446.7471.

4/28.  2010 Restaurant and Business Expo from 4 – 8 PM.  Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center (Exhibit Rooms B and C).  Free to the public by the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce.  Festive atmosphere for previewing table-top displays in the hospitality industry, sampling wonderful food, and networking among the local area businesses. 

4/30.  Relay for Life, American Cancer Society.  7 PM to 5/1 at 7 AM.  Valor Park at Market Commons hosts this year's Relay.  Come support celebrations of life and the on-going research and search for a cure.  Walk-relay teams converge to raise funds in a Grand Strand-wide effort.  Fun activities, local entertainment, and prizes are all part of the event.  For details, contact 1.800.ACS.2345 or www.cancer.org.
