Georgetown Port City's Docking Pilot
Wilmington, Georgetown, and Charleston are the port cities of our area. Of the three, Georgetown is not used in commercial docking as much as the other two which receive commercials vessels, cruise ships, and other crafts. Docking pilots tend to work in these two areas, using their local maritime knowledge board 200- to 700-foot ships to help guide ships' captains through the narrow channel to the port. Tugboats push them in the right direction.
