Fishing Along the Grand Strand
During the summer, catch whiting in the surf around the inlets, in the junctures with the marshlands, and at piers. This fish feeds on small worms, crabs, and shrimp, so use two leaders with #1 or 1/0 hooks, casting out at the incoming tide. Although they are not as large and spirited as many inshore fish, they are usually easy to catch and tasty to eat.
