Plantersville Heritage Festival
The Plantersville Heritage Festival, held recently, included many tributes to African culture such as the gumbae dance which Falola Jackson (left) is teaching in this photo. Her dance group is called Egbe, Kilimajaro, a family of African Drummers and Dancers in Georgetown County. The festival celebrated local residents and descendants of slaves who played major roles in shaping Georgetown County and South Carolina.
