Solar Sails
A thin-film stretching about 66 feet along a diagonal, this device is coated with little solar cells, dust counters, and reflective steering devices on the sail to collect energy. The sail is the latest trend in space gear to propel a space craft. Photons of light bounce off the sail's surface, putting enough pressure over the wide surface to give a little push to the spacecraft. Not much, but enough to sustain "interstellar cruise" control.
