Swashes, Off-Shore Storms, and You!

Tidal swash -- an uprush and backwash of water that surges higher on shore following an in-coming wave. As it comes in, so it goes out, and when the water rushes back out to sea, that rapid flow is called a rip current. Don't get caught with currents from this weekend's off-shore Hurricane Bill. If you are in the rushing water, stay afloat, don't fight, swim parallel to shore until you can come in.
