Wolf Moon Tonight Here at the Grand Strand
The biggest, brightest moon of the year appears tonight here on the mid-Atlantic coastline. Called "the wolf moon" because legend tells us that hungry wolves howled at full moons on cold wintry nights, our neighboring planet will be at its closest point to us, appearing 14% bigger and 30% brighter than usual. Look for Mars, too, in a reddish hue, lower left from the moon.
